xr 700 gaming lag
Hi
i have my xr700 router configured for gaming, its been working great for quite some time. All of sudden, is started experiencing lag while gaming although latency is ok. I play warzone 2 and sometimes the latency is 30 - 40ms and while gaming i experience lag and cant play the game.
I have static IP on my ps5
static public IP on the XR700
topology diagram:
ISP device <----> XR700 <----> ps5 via ethernet
antibufferbloat configured to always at 70% with Goodput enabled.
QoS for ps5 50% of available bandwidth. I even went to setting it to 100% just to make sure social media traffic or IP TV traffic not impact the game play. still no use.
I am starting to doubt whether this is related to the latest firmware.
The gaming experience was ok for more than a year now. no change to configuration. all of sudden i started experiencing the lag since a week now.
any tips would help.
thanks

Re: xr 700 gaming lag
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router and game console. CAT6 is recommended.
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Re: xr 700 gaming lag
The SP router is a Huawei GPON router and is actually providing a dynamic IP address to the WAN interface of XR700.
I am did the steps your recommended and will do some testing now. I also replaced the PS5 cable with a new one.

Re: xr 700 gaming lag
If your ISP Modem/ONT already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Try option #2 first...
