Lightning Vs S8000

Hello everyone. I'm here as a last resort to see if there's a way or a chance even for me to save my S8000 switch. I live abroad and these are very hard to source at retail price or to even be shipped here, hopefully this will provide some sense into my desperation to get it fixed or to seek help. Few days ago a lightning strike hit close to my current location causing the power to go out, most of my block was affected. In my home several devices were toast including my S8000. Initially the S8000 didnt turn back on at all, then the LEDs were very dim, and now it's a mixture of several things. I'll elaborate how it turns on now; power on, LEDs front dim, LEDs back super bright, it appears to boot for several minutes as it would normally, rises quite a bit in temperature to the point where it's too hot to touch, then it does a mixture of cycling between bright and dim LEDs while blinking and being very hot to the touch. Is this thing beyond repair? Is it salvageable? I'd hate to just lose this switch after I went through so much to get it... Help.

Re: Lightning Vs S8000

sounds like the lightning won that round.

things you could try?

1. see if you have a matching power supply sitting around anywhere. its a fairly commoon one. Maybe only the power supply is bad and not sending enough voltage to it. (I wouldn't buy one)

2. I've never tried it but maybe you can use tftp/nmrpflash to re-install the firmware on it. Maybe the firmware is corrupt and creating a loop/stuck process.

You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10

and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
