NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming 8-port Switch GS810EMX Documentation doesn't match Admin Control Panel

I picked up the GS810EMX and set it up just fine. However, the documentation says that the Uplink goes into Port 10 and Gaming goes to Port 1 but the Switch admin control panel has Port 1 as the Uplink and 10 is the Gaming.

Which one is it?

Both ways seem to be working.

The port numbering was reverted at some point during the early Beta testing, the October 2017 GS810EMX Installation Guide was not updated accordingly.

The default QoS setting (and the default port designations in the UI) imply this:

Connect the Switch to Your Network

1. Connect LAN port 1 (UPLINK) on the switch to a LAN port on a router that is connected to the Internet.

2. Connect your gaming device to port 10, your streaming device to port 9, and all other devices (including additional gaming and streaming devices) to the remaining ports 3‒8.

3. Connect the power adapter to the switch. The Power LED on the top of the switch lights and the port LEDs for connected devices light.

Needless to say, this might require cabling and config changes of one does use say a 10 GbE/MultiGig NAS and another 10 GbE/MultiGig capable switch - in such a set-up, you might want to use the 10 GbE/MultiGig ports #9 and #10 of course.

Edit - worth mentioning: The default QoS Preset is the Standard mode, setting all ports to the same priority.

-Kurt

Thanks for clarifying. While both ways worked I wanted to be sure I got the best from the switch so this clarification helps me achieve that.

Glad to help. Both ways work of course as a switch is full bi-directional beast anyway.
