Ok, I understand it is a GS808E also known as the S8000.
What operating system, browser version, and potentially Internet "Security" package are we facing here? Already tried a different browser, or ie. a mobile/tablet with the standard iOS/Safari resp. Android/Chrome browser?
Nothing that might interfere with the communication, like Jumbo Frames (enabled on the computer interface), non-matching IP subnet masks?
Unpacked the ZIP archive after the download for the GS808E_V1.0.2.3.bin file?

Re: Network errror while attempting firmware update
Talking of the new 10 port SX10 with two 10/MultiGigports?
The designation of this device is GS810EMX, the current firmware is v1.0.0.1 - the related support page https://www.netgear.com/support/product/gs810emx.aspx
The GS808E is the 8 port Gigabit Nighthawk Switch S8000 - the related support page
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/GS808E.aspx
To many designations creating confusion here I guess.

Re: Network errror while attempting firmware update
Mine is the 8 port model and i have the correct file, but there is something preventing the firmware from loading and installing. the process begins, but it immediately posts an error without updating

Re: Network errror while attempting firmware update
eureka!! i have gotten the firmware to load thanks to your suggestion of using a different browser. Microsoft Edge browser is the culprit. I switched to the regular IE browser and was able to install the firmware.
thank you schumaku for the help

Re: Network errror while attempting firmware update
Glad it helped.
Unfortunately, while recognised and reported early, this limitation was not fixed in the factory and probably other earlier firmware builds for the S8000.
The even better news? Starting from this firmware, future updates should be possible from the Edge browser.
