I am running with NightHawk AX4300 (model RAX45). About 1 day ago i started seeing several different things which I am not sure of the cause but would like to find the solution.
Observations:
1) When I connect to either the 5G or 2G networks broadcasting from the nighthawk, and I try and use chrome, I get Your connection is not private. error: NET: ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALUD
2) When I connect to the same networks from my laptop and I use VPN - I get an error Untrusted Server Blocked! and I get a bunch of untrusted server certificates.
3) When I try and connect to the network with my Fire TV stick - I can enter the password, and then it says connected for about a second and then goes to no internet.
Everything was working just fine up to a day ago.
Setup - From the dish, the line goes into an airCube, and there I connect to the nighthawk. I turn the wireless off from the aircube and use the wireless from the nighthawk.
I have the netgear nighthawk app running on my phone, and I can connect over connect anywhere.
Firmware V1.0.2.82
If I use the wireless from the airCube, all the certificate issues disappear. My guess is there is some setting or some adjustment I have to do. Not seeing anything from the netgear app running on my phone.
Hoping the community can assist. Many thanks!

If you factory reset you router this may help as you set things up again.
After factory reset.
1. Make a backup of router configuration.
When you make your 1st changes with perferred SSID and New Admin and Password.
2. Make a backup router confiruration.
Once everthing is setup and working properly.
3. Make a backup rounter configuration
Now this will help in troubleshooting should you have to perform more factory resets
I know it is tedious & reduncant but it can save you a lot of time by just restoring a configuration.
Tips that have helpled me in the past and currently.
Before router firmware upgrade.
-Make a note of the firmware version
-Make a backup router configuration in case you've modified your configuration.
Or have to downgrade back to a previous firmware version
After router firmware upgrade.
Make a back router configuration because your configuration is not running on a new version.

Hello Colgym,
May you check to see if your router is due for a firmware update and check if there is a google chrome update available.
Regards,
Christian

Re: AX4300 (RAX45) 'your connection is not private' '/untrusted server blocked
I checked and router is not wanting a firmware update. Chrome is current.
Is there anything security related that runs on router on an initial install that stops after 90 or 120 days? this was working just fine and no change happened.

Re: AX4300 (RAX45) 'your connection is not private' '/untrusted server blocked
What I know.
If you were just going to your router's network login via a browser...
"Observations:
1) When I connect to either the 5G or 2G networks broadcasting from the nighthawk, and I try and use chrome, I get Your connection is not private. error: NET: ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALUD"
This would be normal as the web site to your router's browser page would be
and not
With http you will get the Your Connection is not private as routers don't have SSL certificates.
If this is the case it is a protection feature.... As this alerts you about unsafe sites.
Your other observations I'm not sure about..
Will check to see if I can find anything eslse
In the mean time if this is the case that a look at...

Also if a device is trying to connect to your router as.........
https://192.168.1.1 instead of http://192.168.1.1 it will trigger the bad site alert.
Have you set up devices to do this?

Re: AX4300 (RAX45) 'your connection is not private' '/untrusted server blocked
None of my devices are trying to directly connect to the router.
In the case of Chrome example, I connect my phone to the wifi network from the router, either 2g or 5g and I go to any webpage on the chrome browser and I get the error. I am using a current version of chrome and am certain it defaults to using HTTPS.

Re: AX4300 (RAX45) 'your connection is not private' '/untrusted server blocked
It looks to be central to your network
Here 's some questions and things to check......
1. Where you managing your router remotely?
If so disable this feature it can be a doorway into your router.
2. Have or did you back up your router configuration prior to this problem?
If so it could be a save. Because you could factory reset your router and the restore your
configuration.
3. If you are running IOT devices, say smart switches, doorbells etc. are they all
patched with current software versions.
If so check & patch them. Also patch any operating systems on any pc, tablet.
4. Are their any devices on your network that you've kept the defaults password and
logins unchanged?
If so create your own secure password and logins.
5. Do you have virus and malware scanning software on your pc/phone especially If
android phone.
Download them; you might try the security suites from McAfee & Malwarebytes.
6. It may come down to factory resetting your router and starting over.
Just clean some things up from the listed questions above.

Re: AX4300 (RAX45) 'your connection is not private' '/untrusted server blocked
many thanks for the suggestions.
I do not mind going down the path of a factory reset and I will do the backups.
