BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
Choosing option WPA2-Personal[AES] + WPA3-Personal encryption disconnects IPAD 2 running IOS 10.3.3
Must choose WPA2-Personal [AES] to stay connected.

@Christian_R - that's a bug, not a security vulnerability. Perfectly chosen subject by the OP 8-)

Re: BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
Did you ever get this issue resolved? I'm interested in purchasing the RAX120 but not if simple test cases like this are present.
Also, the response you got from the moderator @Christian_R was totally unacceptable and way off base. You should contact support if you are still encountering this issue. Make sure to reference this forum thread.

What I meant to state above was:
I'm interested in purchasing the RAX120 but not if Netgear's QA team hasn't bothered to document and execute simple test cases like this. A bug like this should have been caught weeks, if not months, ago.

While I'm the first line complaining about Netgear's non-existing PQA ... Is running all kinds of legacy hardware on legacy operating system versions (think of Android [how many different platforms are out there?], iOS [several EoL generations], ... And then: Well possible these WPA3/WPA2 interop issues could be problems on the client side...

Re: BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
@kc6108 In the next iteration, the WPA2/WPA3 processing is a part of the wireless association process, which is most likely outside of Netgear's competences - all this happens in embedded code run on the radio chips, which does come from the SoC vendors. Can't speak for the RAX models however, we have seen in the past the Netgear was not very progressive in keeping these things updated.

Re: BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
If Netgear doesn't, they should, have several test labs with hundreds of clients in each. That's a small cost, especially over time.
Every firmware release should not only be tested for any code changes made, but fully regression tested as well. Much of the regression testing could be automated. Although repetitive, it should be swift, especially over time.
And, yes, tested against all the clients in the lab. Furthermore, new clients should be continually added. Again, small cost.
Netgear should also routinely load/stress test all of their supported hardware, not only after major code changes (or after several small/minor changes/builds) to a firmware build (or product rather), but also to ensure said gear continues to play well with others... old and new.
Sorry, but I'm a software engineer by trade. I always took great pride in my work. I never once put out crap code, deployed a server farm (or upgraded environment) that was subpar, etc.
I wouldn't have to be fired if I were one of the folks responsible for some of the code/firmware Netgear has provided lately. I'd fire myself. I believe it's important to like your job. That requires you to be good at what you do. Otherwise you're just going to be miserable... and you know what, ultimately it just makes the end users miserable too.

Gee, I'm fully with you... Please also have an eye on the Nighthawk App and Genie App (in-)compatibility and random results - a matrix of just two Apps on two platforms vs. the supported routers. I would have fired several managers a loooong time ago.

Not resolved yet, no new firmware out. I ran accross another problem also. Very low transfer speeds. I turned off the AX protocol and speeds inproved. I don't have and AX clients yet so no problem. Im sure things will inprove over time. Early adopters are in store for a few headaches.

Hello jeadams
Are you able to upgrade your Ipad to atleast 12.1.1 or greater IOS version? The older version of IOS does not support WPA2-Personal[AES] + WPA3-Personal encryption.

Also for HT160, center valid channels are 50 & 114....
neither of those 2 channels are available when changing over to HT160

HT160 works fine, it just wont report the actual center channels in the GUI, it will just mention the 8, 20 Mhz channels used.

They probably did that so novices don't get confused, at least that is my guess.

Re: BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
I used Wifi Analyzer and my HT160 is NOT centered on 114, instead I requested it on 112(being the closest) and it say it's on 112... as far as Wifi Analyzer goes (both Windows and Android) it doesn't show the graph being a 160mhz width

Here is a screen shot as well from Acrylic highlighted is the RAX120, as you can see I requested Channel 112. Should be centered at 114. Also you can see the width is 80 not 160

Re: BUG REPORT Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Router Firmware Version V1.0.0.84
Netgear does only show the effective 20 MHz wide channels involved. Channels numbers like 50 or 114 (for 160 MHz) are a more theoretical collection numbers. Any 40/80/160 MHz wide usage is always a usage of many 20 MHz channels. When I have it right, any of the 20 MHz channels can serve as the primary btw. like 100(P)+104+108+112+116+120+124+128 or 36+40+44(P)+48+52+56+60+64 for example.
As well, we see never more than 80 MHz on these popular tools, regardless of the vendor, also from SMB and business class AP radios - suspect that's related to the test platform/driver.
