Long Range, Fast, Router Recommendation Request
Currently have Charter/Spectrum Internet service (small town, one choice of provider) and using the provided modem and router (separate units).
The modem and router are at the other end of our house because that is where we have devices that have ethernet only connections must reside, so moving the wifi isn't really an option. There are three of us in the house and all three are pretty heavy users of the wifi.
Q: We are experiencing signifcant fluctations in speed, over short periods of time. For example, at the most distant location in the house, the speed can very from 30 Mbps to 5-8 Mbps over a period of a few seconds. Is this normal?
Q: I am considering upgrading my router. The AC3200 has been recomended and I like the fact that it is TriBand. My plan would be to dedicate one of the 5 Ghz bands to our daughter, use the other 5Ghz for my and my wife's streaming and the 2 Ghz for misc. However, I am curious as to whether or not I should upgrade to a WiFi 6 router, with more streams. The tri-band wifi 6 models are out of my budget range though. What would be the best, long range model, for a family of 3 (daughter has frequent guests who also use wifi), with simultaneously streaming (all 3-4 people), potentially gaming at the same time as well, and numerous other devices going at the same time...
