New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

Hey everybody,

My router told me this mornig that a new vesrsion was available: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

The changes:

 1.   [Bug Fixes] Fixes the issue where the 5G band operates in HT20 but not HT160 mode after resetting the router to its factory default settings.
 2.   [Bug Fixes] Fixes the issue where the radar detect rate of DFS channel in Europe is not optimized.
 3.   [Bug Fixes] Fixes minor bugs.
 4.   [Bug Fixes] Fix security bugs.

We have to try it to see if it solve the droping 5GHtz dropping wifi.

I have received the V1.0.2.76_1.0.35 version and I don't know if it solves the USB problem.

He didn't mention it.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I think the new firmware is regional. I am in Los Angeles, CA USA and I am seeing no new firmware available when I check for update in the GUI. I tried downgrading firmware and upgrading and 1.0.1.70 was the version offered to me.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

It was the same with the last firmware release, it wasn't shown on the website for several weeks after the release.
With v70 the nighthawk app found the update but trying through the router web interface said everything was up to date.

Will be interesting to see if people have any better experiences with this version.
The release notes are as useful as always.... 😞

Has anyone seen any official posts from Christian_R about this release & if it should fix any of the issues people are reporting?

I'm not sure the items in the release notes really address any of these problems...

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I plugged back in my RAX80, did a factory reset & connected with the nighthawk app.

It offered me the update 76 immediately.

Since I'm home, I think I'll try it out as a secondary network to see if a couple of devices can maintain a connection.
I didn't use 70 because it couldn't maintain a LAN connection with my Xbox.
I hope this one is better...

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

Firmware 2.76 seems to be causing some issues with my LAN connections. Both of my PS4 (which are connected by LAN) are getting disconnected every 3 to 6 hours. Devices connected by wifi don't seem to be affected. Looking at the logs, I see that right after these events the router is reconnecting to the internet and synchronizing it's time with the Netgear server. I know others were having this issue with previous firmware versions, but I wasn't... Will try reverting back to .70.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I had that exact problem with firmware 70.
I specifically ran network cables for my Xbox because of the constant WiFi problems with the earlier firmware.
When I had LAN problems on 70 it was the final straw that made me stick it in the box.

My network connection would reset every 60s or so but had the same time server syncs in the logs.
I imagine this indicates the router is reseting but the support guys never gave me any feedback what was the cause..

What region are you in? I am in Los Angeles, CA USA and have not received this new firmware yet. I believe it is released on a regional basis. I have checked the Nighthawk app & web interface. Both tell me no new firmware available.

I started getting WAN/LAN disconnects with any newer firmware after 1.0.1.56. However 1.0.1.56 reported (logged) a lot of false positives for DENIAL OF SERVICE attacks which does not happen in 1.0.1.70. I did a factory reset on 1.0.170 and input all my data again as opposed to restoring from saved config so far the WAN/LAN still disconnect but less often. The disconnects seem to be related to time server sync. I am not using Netgear time server.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I had all of the same problems with 64.
This was the current firmware when I bought my router. The same issues were present in 64 & 70.

Several older post suggested 52 or 56 was stable but I didn't try them.

1.0.1.56 has been the most stable firmware for me thus far but because it is behind on security updates it logs excessive amounts of DoS attacks which slow down the router.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I am now having LAN disconnects on firmware v.1.70 too after reverting back to it. It sucks because everything was working just fine before my RAX80 automatically updated to firmware v.2.76.

I'll try reverting back to firmware v.1.40, doing a factory reset and updating to the latest firmware. If that doesn't work, I'm buying a wired router and will use the RAX80 as a wireless AP.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I was finally able to download 1.0.2.76 and install it. It is listed under the downloads for RAX80. The Nighthawk app & web interface for the router does not show new firmware found when I had 1.0.1.70 installed.

I am still getting LAN disconnections with the latest firmware 1.0.2.76. Since installing the firmware about 4 hours ago, the devices on LAN reset after 3 hours.

I did a reset with paperclip on back of router since after it was installed I was only getting 480 Mbps download after 1.0.2.76 install I now get 940 Mbps download since I am subscribed to GIG.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

The WAN / LAN connections still disconnect / reconnect at random times. When the WAN disconnects it also affects the wireless devices. I notice my Google Home Mini will on occasion loose connectivity to the router, a reset will reconnect.

Re: New RAX 80 firmware ver: 1.0.2.76_1.0.35

I seem to be having more frequent wired/LAN disconnects on v2.76 than v1.70, but I have yet to notice a device connected through wifi get disconnected on any of the FW I have tried (and I have 50 devices on the wifi network, including multiple Google Home).

It sucks that some of you are having problems with the wifi network on top of the wired LAN issues.

I tried reverting to firmware v.1.56 to see if it would solve the "disconnect on LAN" issue. But, it didn't. My RAX80 has the same problem running that FW version too.

WARNING! This version still destroys all TimeMachine Backups as desicrbed here:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Routers-with-WiFi-6-AX/RAX80-RAX75-Firmware-1-0-1-70-Prob...

I have to go back to version RAX80-V1.0.1.64_1.0.27 which is the latest one "working".

This router ist the biggest crap I have ever seen, I will never by any Netgear product in future.
