Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Firmware Version V1.0.1.90

Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Firmware Version V1.0.1.90

Our office setup this router a few months ago and we are consistently seeing connectivity issues.  The issue seems to be the DHCP server freezing up or crashing on the router.  The SSIDs are still being broadcast, but all devices lose connection including devices connected directly via cat 6 ethernet cables.  We're having to reset the device 2-3 times per week due to this.  I have tried turning off some of the newer features such as WPA3 and the AX mode, without any noticable improvement.  Is this something we're doing wrong on the configuration side or a hardware/firmware problem?

sfed2600,

Thanks for taking the time to post. Would you mind providing us with the model number of the modem the router is connected to?

Thanks,

It's an Arris SURFboard SB8200.  We just checked the RAX120 logs and it looks like the device flagged a 'DoS attack' attempt on one of our public facing ports.  In the meantime we closed that port to see if things improve.

sfed2600,

Thanks for getting back. How has closing the port worked out over the weekend? Please send me a message with your contact info. I'd like for support to look into this further.

Thanks,
Christian

Re: Nighthawk® AX12 RAX120 Firmware Version V1.0.1.90

I used to have problems on my R7000 and found that reserving IP address in the web interface Advanced>Setup>LAN Setup solved my problems.  I am reserving IP's with my new RAX120 and have had no problems in the last 60 days with about 40 devices connected.

There is a defect in this interface in the RAX120 that does not remove a reserved IP from the add table.  On the R7000 and R7900 IP's are removed from this table so that when you reserve an IP address it does not show up in the add table.

I also limited the DHCP ending address at .199 so that all my static IP's (mostly printers) resceive IP's starting at .200

So far, the router has not needed a reboot since making the change.  Hopefully that was our issue, but we will continue to monitor.
