Nighthawk App Limited Ability. Bring back routerlogin.net

I had to reset my R8000 router due to a loss of internet from ISP. Now routerlogin.net doesn't work and NetGear makes you download their app to my Android phone and the app is useless. I can't get router to recognize anything except my phones. Can't use printers, etc. What a joke! If I have to buy a nother router it will be something else besides NetGear!

I believe that there's more than one "a NetGear page" in the whole
World-Wide Web, so thanks for the helpful link.

That sounds unlikely to me, but with my weak psychic powers, I can't
see what you're seeing, or where you got it.
If you're landing here:
https://www.netgear.com/home/services/routerlogincom/
then you should read it again. Especially the item which begins:
2. If you'd still like to use routerlogin.com or routerlogin.net,
[...]

Again, with my weak psychic powers, I can't see how you had
configured the R8000 wireless stuff before the reset, or after the
reset, or how your wireless-bridge gizmos were configured ever.

That could depend on what else you did after the reset.

I wouldn't use the app.

Or the way that you configured the R8000 after you reset it.
In the worst case, if you can't reconfigure the R8000 so that it
acts as it did before, then you might need to reconfigure your other
stuff to accommodate the new configuration of the R8000.

For the sake of argument, let's say that that's true.

"doesn't work" is not a useful problem description. It does not say
what you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.
> [...] NetGear makes you download their app [...]
Not really. I never use any Netgear app.
> I can't get router to recognize anything except my phones. [...]
Regarding "can't", see "not a useful problem description [...]",
above.
> [...] Can't use printers, etc. [...]
"Can't", again. If your (unspecified) computers/devices were
expecting to find your (unspecified) "printers" at some particular IP
addresses, and you reset your router (where you might have had
particular addresses reserved for particular devices), then I would not
be amazed if no one could find some printer/device at its new
(unreserved) address.

You could probably create the same problems with any make/model of
router.
General advice: Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your
model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at
least). Read. Look for the LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

Re: Nighthawk App Limited Ability. Bring back routerlogin.net
"Doesn't Work"...if you reset the R8000 and then try to type in www.routerlogin.net in your browser as before which allowed you to get to the settings of the R8000, it takes you to a NetGear page that states you cannot access router settings by typing www.routerlogin.net in your browser any longer. It goes on to tell you that you have to install the NetGear Nighhawk - WiFi Router App on your phone. The settings you could reach prior to this using www.routerlogin.net in your browser address box were very detailed and customizable. The app has very little of that. IE; for the most part, the app doesn't work.
"Printers not accessable"...PC recongnizes my TV's, etc, but not my printers. My printers are connected wirelessly with IOGEAR GWU637 Ethernet-2-WiFi Universal Wireless Adapters that go through the R8000 router which worked fine prior to resetting the router. This must be due to the reset on the router and the use of the app in lieu of the www.routerlogin.net address in the browser.IN THE APP it only shows my phones and my pc under devices. When I was able to use www.routerlogin.net in the browser it gave me a myriad of choices which allowed me to allow or disallow devices aloing many other functions. If I connect the printers to the PC via Eithernet cables they work fine. It's the router and app that are the problem!

Ok (haven't tried it yet but I will) I didn't read clearly. In my frustration I skimmed. Should never do that. Thanks for settling me down.
