RAX 40 Question Before Buying

RAX 40 Question Before Buying

So currently i'm using a Netgear WNDR4300v2 router and planning to upgrade to the RAX 40 but have some questions/concerns.
1. Do I need to download the nighthawk app to setup/update/configure the RAX 40? I have always used routerlogin.net for all my netgear routers and really don't want to use a app/install disc
2. If I can use routerlogin.net does it even work correctly because I seen complaints about a expired certificate on these forums when trying to access the router that way resulting in a error.
3. Can auto updates be disabled? I prefer to do them myself and avoid risking interupted connection during important times, besides I usually check once a month for updates anyway

Re: RAX 40 Question Before Buying

I've got a RAX200 so I can only go off that. It should be the same/similar.

1. You can set it up with a pc.  The manual shows how. Its just the quick instructions state to use the app but the normal gui setup works fine. I've done it several times with my rax

2. Mine works fine. There was an issue with chrome but its since been resolved.

I've had zero issues accessing the gui.

3. You can disable auto update within the RAX200 menu. I couldn't find anything in the manual about the RAX40 but it wasn't in there for the RAX200 either.  I'd imaging its the same as the manuals were fairly close to the same.
