Router Nighthawk AZ12 RAX200
Macbook Pro .... all Hardwired Ethernet Cat6e
--- YES ... EVERY Device is UP TO DATE.. Firmware, Apps, And Device Updates are --- Current.
I hardiwre as much as possible..TV's, Ruku, Dish Network & Joeys, DVD players. Wireless are mainly my Nest security cams, Nest Locks, Thermostat, & smoke detector; which can only be wireless.
.
Years ago a Netgear tech fixed a SMB in my ReadyNAS 214 that helped it's speed greatly...
I just got my 3rd RAX200 Router ( as they keep on going out !!! )
SMB seems to be going out of style.. It is still has faster access than AFP...
But... How can I make my NAS have faster file access ???
IF SMB will soon be trashed.... I want my word documents to be accessed and re-created FAST.
FAST.. at least as fast as SMB !!!!
.
What secrets do you guys have ????
.
When I replaced my RAX200 the other day.. every time I opened a Word Doc on my MacBook Pro..
( or a pdf on my Windows Desktop) .. I sat that a few seconds wondering WHAT THE HELL .. is taking so long !!!
..
Then I recalled a Netgear teck doing quote "something on the BACK END" to speed SMB up...
I figure if SMB is so old.. certainly with all this time and SMB being discontinued..
they MUST have something that's faster...... something to speed things up..
I mean... WHY discontinue SMB... and NOT... - NOT - having newer technology that is FASTER ??
Understand.. SMB... FASTER... So many years past... You would not cut off SMB if it's BETTER THAN.. Right?
You must have something FASTER than SMB.. Right ??
.. so .. What is FASTER.. What needs to be changed that's FASTER ??
AFP is NOT FAST
my basic "admin" login ReadyNAS login of course is slow..
So... What can I change that is FASTER than SMB ??
.
Thanks
I'm waiting for your FIX !!
