Unsecured 5GHz networks on Nighthawk Routers
I have the Nighthawk RAX200 router and the same issue that others have discussed with Nighthawk routers; namely, the 5GHz networks are unsecured with the Smart Connect enabled (i.e., checked). To make both 5GHz networks on the RAX200 secure, I had to uncheck (disable) Smart Connect, change the network names (e.g., MYNetwork-5G1 and MYNetwork-5G2) with the same passwords and click apply.
From the comments in this forum, it appears that this issue has existed with the Netgear Nighthawk routers since at least early 2019, and that Netgear has been aware of it (the Netgear moderators have indicated they would bring it to Netgear's attention). However, Netgear still has not fixed this issue.
When will Netgear fix this?
