ftp Share
NetGear Nighthawk AX12 AX6000
model: RAX120
I need a means to share http or ftp via intranet or internet on this rounter. It is Linux host booting up and needs to ignite installation but needs a http or ftp hosted (nothing with SSL becaues it can't at that stage ignore self signed certs.
I have ddns working .. but this redirect ftp://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares is just not working. It can be http or ftp .. but I just need it to work.
question:
1) Is their a way to just enable basic http local service Ex: Router http://192.168.1.1/share/folder/foo.txt
2) Is their a way to get internet to work without authentication required: http://myhouse.ddns.net:8080/share/folder/foo.txt
What would also be VERY helpful.. and is rediculous that is not the case for this $$ router.. is only one username. THat is rediculous. I want a read only share user and another user that is NOT the router admin that can save to shares.
Ex: I have cameras.. they need to stream to ftp://192.168.1.1/share/camera/ but I really don't need them connecting with a god level account.
I need alexa link to read the camera saved files.. read only.. from internet... but don't want to pass my god user account password plane txt becase this router can't have more then one user account.

Not RAX120v2? Look for "Model" on the product label. Firmware
version? Connected to what?

So far as I know, these routers do not offer a general Web server,
only a limited FTP server. (And Remote Management (which see).)
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for
"Enable FTP access within your network".

Same difference between HTTP and FTP. In the User Manual, look for
"Set up FTP access through the Internet"?

I want a DSL modem+router which does not freeze solid after a month's
operation. Apparently we both picked the wrong vendor/product.

Given _any_ password requirement, what sort of mischief do you expect
with an FTP connection, when the FTP server can access only USB-attached
storage?

I have no idea what the actual requirements might be for "alexa
link", but you seem to be asking for features which your router lacks.
Yet another potential waste of time and effort:

If I wanted a more secure and generally useful FTP/Web server, then I
might invest a few dollars in a Raspberry Pi, rather than expect this
kind of feature set from a product where the basic router and/or
file-sharing features are already too much for the vendor to handle
well.
