AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (R6700v3) dropping internet via wi-fi

t

Seeing some odd things happening to some wireless connected devices.  Specifically, my laptop and phone are saying no internet connection after connecting to either 2G or 5G wireless network.  But oddly, all 3 Roku sticks connect and keep connections on the 5G.

When I go back to my Spectrum provided router, all devices appear happy on both wireless networks.

Anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting or diagnostics.  I'm lost as to why it's only certain devices.  I've noticed the issue on my laptop for a while, but it would reconnect and hold.  Now it's reconnect and drop immediately.

Netgear AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (R6700v3) with up to date firmware.

Laptop running Win10

Try telling the wifi clients, laptop and phone, to forget their wireless connection and then set it up from scratch.

Try looking at Windows networking (the troubleshooter) to see if it has any clues. Windows has a habit of seeing "new" connections as suspicious and likes to limit/block their access to protect you from nasties.

Re: AC1750 Smart WiFi Router (R6700v3) dropping internet via wi-fi

Update:

Further testing has shown that its not just wifi, hard-wired devices are also dropping internet.  This makes the issue much less weird and essentially makes the router unusable.  I have had to switch back to the spectrum router which limits my capabilities.

Are there any suggestions for how to diagnose the router dropping internet connection?

Or is it destined to just be used as an access point if I need one?

Thanks.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

IF the ISP modem has a built in router, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers
https://kb.netgear.com/24086/How-do-I-set-up-a-default-DMZ-server-on-my-Nighthawk-router

Try option #2 first...
