AC3000 Firmware Updates not installing

Am attempting to update my router with this file R7960P-V1.4.1.64_1.3.25.chk and have done it both using the update feature on the router and then by downloading, extracting and then pushing out the file and they bomb.  Is there a solution for those of us that are not able to directly connect to the router (no ethernet connection) and use only wifi.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Harware warranty is the only option left as all the others have expired.....so #Netgear let me know what I need to do.....

Router is X6S AC3000 MU-MIMO Smart WI-FI R7960P
