Access my router from my phone
Hi! Trying to setup my new Frameo wi-fi digital photo frame but the wi-fi shows status of 'scanning'. From all my research and head-scratching, I believe it is due to router security setting of WEP...

I successfully changed WEP to WPA2 and also upgraded the router firmware (I'm sure it was very outdated). I had to remove the router from my frameo wi-fi setup and add it back. All is fine now; Frameo is working and we have uploaded photos. Lastly, I am going to investigate if I should change the router mode from 54mbps to 150mbps or 300mbps. Thanks everyone!

Did you read the bit about WEP in the manual? (Page 28)
"WEP encryption is available only when the Mode setting is Up to 54 Mbps."
It isn't as clear as it could be – it is a Netgear manual after all – but one interpretation of that could be that moving to 150mbps or 300mbps would disable WEP encryption.

That is not applicable since I moved to WPA2.

It still applies. It just isn't the way out of your previous predicament, which I couldn't understand from your first message.
router security setting of WEP vs WPA2. So I want to change this setting on my Netgear routerIt didn't say if you wanted to go from WEP to WPA2 or vice versa.
(Were I trying to score points – I leave that to others – I would say "I am no mind reader".)
Maybe you'd like to mark whichever message you used to dig you out of your hole and mark it as "Accept as Solution". It might help someone else who turns up here with a similar problem.
You never know who might throw "Frameo" into Netgear's community search.
Your success in fixing a problem might also help anyone who owns a JWNR2000. As you have shown, there are still people out there making good use of these old devices.

Not in every sentence, no.

Many thanks for the evident self-restraint.

Bottom line: The 'accept as solution' for the '401 unauthorized, access to this resource is denied' message was to use the correct password for my router. And the solution to have the Frameo digital photo frame to 'connect' to the router vs having a status of 'scanning' was to change the router security from WEP to WPA2 then upgrade the router firmware. Issue closed. Thanks Netgear Community.
