Airprint only works if I reset my printer

Canon mf644cdw printer

iphone 12, iPad Pro, MacBook Air

netgear c7800 on xfinity, lastest firmware.

c7800 has static ip set for canon printer.

problem:

initially airprint works fine. After 10 minutes or so, I get "no airprint printers found".

it appears the printer connection to the c7800 is lost.

if I power down the printer and back up, airprint works again for 10 minutes or so.
