Cant setup Netgear router without internet?

My ISP came out today to hook me up but I have a deadline outside that needs fixed. So wont have internet till Monday

Tried setting up the nighthawk app but I cant advance anymore in it as it cant connect to the internet. No big deal but wondering if theres a way around this? Not to internet savvy with routers and modems. Thanks

You can connect to the routers web page at 192.168.1.1 with a PC and web browser to set it up...

You can set it up using the browser. I've set routers up numerous times using this method while not online. When you first connect it'll say to use the app but at the bottom of the page is a "I don't have a smart phone" option that lets you use the browser.

If you think about it, you can't set up a router with the Internet. How does it know about the Internet when you first plug it in?

As others say, you can set up the router without an Internet access, but you cannot connect it to the Internet.

What you can't do is to set it up with an app that needs an Internet connection. But that's a newfangled way of doing things that experienced users avoid.

One way to approach this is to follow the instructions for a manual update to your firmware. (You can even do that when you are off line.)

Ignore the first bit and read the manual instructions.

When you are off line you can change the password for admin access to the browser graphical user interface (GUI). You can also update the firmware, as long as you have a way to download the firmware.

You can also investigate the local network and can play around with stuff like ReadySHARE.

Get it ready and as soon as the ISP throws the switch all you have to do is to feed in the login details so that the router can get n to the Internet.
