Connect 2 subnets managed by Orbi RBR40 and Nightawk R7000 ( both in Router mode and DHCP enabled)

Hi,

I have configured 2 subnets that are wired at home.
My goal is that members of one network can access a PC in the other network (used as a PLEX web server on 32500 port).

I have tried and failed to get it this way Smiley Sad. If anyone can give me some help or advice, please let me know.

Example (as configured below): the IP 10.0.0.3 device can access http://172.16.0.17:32500

Each network is managed by its own Netgear router in different and distant floors (Wireless of one router is not visible by the other router members).

The 2 routers are connected and configured as follows:

   (Orbi RBR40)<=====RJ45=====>(Nightawk R7000 as WAN)<==RJ45==>(modem ISP)

RBR40 conf:

  - Router mode

  - Wireless enabled

  - DHCP: enabled

  - LAN: 172.16.0.0 / 255.255.255.0

  - NAT: Open

  - SIP ALG not disabled

  - Port forwarding: TCP/UDP to 172.16.0.17:32500 (is a PLEX server)

  - UPnP enabled

  - No Static Routes

  - IP LAN: 172.16.0.1

  - IP WAN: 10.0.0.2

R7000 conf:

  - Router mode

  - Wireless enabled

  - DHCP: enabled

  - LAN: 10.0.0.0 / 255.255.255.0

  - NAT: Open

  - SIP ALG not disabled

  - Port forwarding: TCP/UDP to 10.0.0.2:32500

  - UPnP enabled

  - Static Routes: Private

    -Destin.: 172.16.0.0

    -Gateway: 10.0.0.2

    -metric: 2

  - IP LAN: 10.0.0.1

Why not just set it up properly without the double nat?

You could put the R7000 in access point mode and they'd both be in the same subnet

AP is not a suitable option for both routers because I will lose the "Parental Control" (Circle) and NETGEAR Armor features that are enabled on both routers.

Also R7000 is a WAN client for the modem (Fiber Optic) and therefore provides WAN Internet access to RBR40.
Activating the AP mode on R7000 will result, I think, in extending the modem network instead of the RBR40 network.

My network topology:

        (RBR40)<>WAN-port========port1<>(R7000)<>WAN-port========port1<>(OPTICAL-ROUTER)<>Internet

   [172.16.0.0/24]------------------------------[10.0.0.0/24]----------------------------------[192.168.1.0/24]

By the way each network has its own people (my family and my neighbor's family).

Internet optical router and R7000 are in my neighbor home, and RBK40 in my home.

And I want to share PLEX server (witch I have in my home) with my neighbor's family.

You don't need parental controls and armor on both devices.

You can manage all of the devices off just the one router with the 2nd device in AP mode.

that would have you all on the same IP range so you can share your plex server.

If you're doing it so you can have data seperation, then you'd need a business class router that allows vlan's so you can seperate out networks but still share specific devices on both.
