Does backup contain password details?
Is there a source the details what information is contained in a configuration backup? I am curious about this in general but was motivated to ask when wondering whether the existing password and associated password recovery information would be restored from a backup.

Re: Does backup contain password details?
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for General Router products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with older routers and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

One test to check this would be to make a back up, factory reset the router. Load the backup config file and after the reboot, check to see if the PW you had used still works or if the PW reverts to default.
Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you

Re: Does backup contain password details?
Thanks for the pointer to post on the General Routers forum.
As for doing a reset/restore to see what gets restored, I would much prefer to know what will and won't be restored first.
