Email saying I need to update by Nighthawk app, but no update available?

The title pretty much says it. Has anyone else gotten an email saying important update to your firmware (which I would welcome) please check using the Nighhawk app (android). But there is no update...??

WTF?

I know the email was real and safe, no bad links etc.

Am I alone?

    The Android (or any other) app relies in the Netgear's FTP server, which can take time to get the latest firmware updates.

     

    It is often quicker, easier and safer to manually update firmware. Less likely to fall over in mid update.

     

    Visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

    Feed in your model number and check for software and firmware for your device.

    Check the section in the manual on updating the firmware.

    Those update emails go out from time to time., They don't seem to be related to any particular update. The usual sign that they have happened is when people turn up here asking if they are genuine.
