Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Just to provide an update I received a debug firmware from Netgear and running it now to assist with debuging. Strange, I have been running this for almost 2 hours and have not had a dropped device since it started logging.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
I was reading an article on MU-MIMO which indicated that the technology would not work for multiple clients positioned along the same vector and in close proximity to each other. My laptop and RPi were within 6 feet of each other along the same vector. However, as previously noted, the stock version had no problems under the same conditions.
My version of Tomato did not have any provision for managing beam forming like I've seen in prior versions. I installed "tomato-R7000-AT-ARM-3.5-140-AIO-64K.trx" on my r7000.

OK, I knew it wouldn't last (not that I expected it to with a debug version) but just dropped them

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
I've installed the following update to overcome problems with 1.0.9.18: R7000-V1.0.9.20_1.2.28_BETA. It has cleaned up a number of issues I'd encountered with the previous version.

Xwrt is like Asus. Good for less advanced users. Tomato is for ICT guys. A lot of options.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
AdvancedTomato is just looking pretty. Stick to regular tomato. There is another guy who compiles Shibby's source and fixes bugs more often.

Hi all,
reading all this stuff, i did following test: diabling all nice WIFI features like beamforce, auto channel, air time fainess, and did a manual straight forward setting yesterday evening. Till now i have a stable connection on 2.4 GHZ ...... lets see how long this last. However, I hope on an SW update very soon to get the nice things back.

Betreff: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Hi all,
I did the same as Jomihi did, turned of all fancy connecting features, but dissabled guest network and dowgraded to 1.0.9.6, as adviced by Netgear technical support from the Netherlands and have stable 2.4 for 4 days now.
Hopefully a temporary sollution!
Cheers,
Harmen

AdvancedTomato has an overwhelming amount of settings while XWRT-Vortex is based on Asus firmware with less settings. There are still a lot of extras compaired to NG. You can setup 3 guest networks per band, so up to 6 guest networks. You can run OpenVPN (I use NordVPN) The GUI is perfect and very informative. Fallback to 3G/4G with a USB-dongle and it has true HW acceleration drivers build in. After a lot of unsolved problems with NG firmware I use it for about 8 month now without any issues.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
After the update started having problems with 2.4Ghz, showing as connected on phones and tablets but unable to access the internet. Then 5Ghz joined in. Ended with no connection other than ethernet to PC.
Rolled back to earlier firmware and it's mostly ok but the PC just dropped the connection. I hope it was just a one off.
So Netgear, what gives?

I'm having the same 2.4g/5g problems others are. 5g seems to work fine with most devices but nothing can obtain an IP address on the 2.4g band. This has been happening for some time now and none of the firmware updates seems to fix the issue. I'm running V1.0.9.18_1.2.27 right now.
We shouldn't have to run 3rd party software for the router to do what it's intended to. I know I'll never be purchasing a Netgear router again after this disaster.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
This is getting frustrating. It would be nice if Netgear would give us daily updates. I dont expect a date for the next firmwae but it would be nice to see if any progress is being made. After this debacle I am another person who won't be buying Netgear again!

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Just to update, I reverted to 1.0.9.10 yesterday and, apart from a slight scare when the hardwired PC temporarily lost the internet, both 2.4 and 5 have been up and running since.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Thish as been happening for a couple of months now on my router, through multiple firmware updates.
Can anyone share a link on how to revert bcak? I'll probably try and go back to a firmware from around a year ago if possible.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Update:I am still working with Netgear (I am sure others are also) in debuging and testing. I was provided new firmware from them late last night that they received from their chip vendor to capture more details.
They are working on this issue and attempting to correct.

Now for 2 days on XWRT-VORTEX and seems oke now.
