I received an email notification for a Firmware update with the security patch for my X6S AC3000 on Aug.13.
When I login to the Nighthawk app or through a web browser there are no updates available. Been checking every few days since the 13th. Whats the word on this? Id like to get my router secured from the recent P0 vulneralbility.

You will have to manually update your router, as the automated router update feature works spotty at best.
Just navigate to the R8000P support page and download the latest firmware. Make sure your computer is connected to your router via an ethernet cable. Updating the firmware via wifi is not recommended. Then unzip the firmware. Make sure to log in to your router. You can install the firmware under the Advanced Tap, then Administration, and finally Router Update. Instead of an automatic update you will point the router to the location of the unzipped .chk file (that's the router update file) on your harddrive. Then update and wait for about 3-4 minutes. The lights on the router will cycle as if you powered it off and then on again. Then log in to your router again, and check the firmware version. This is the most consistent message for updating your firmware. It can take weeks for the firmware to update via the automated feature and sometimes you might not even be notified at all. There are some fixes with the latest firmware versions, like the Attached Devices tab works about 90-95% of the time now. Nothing is perfect, but it's getting better.
