Firmware Update v1.0.2.76 Nighthawk r7800, DCHP IP issue
Updated Firmware last night, and lost internet connection. Hours of troubleshooting, then speaking with Frontier FiOS, to come back to the cause: the router. Internet works fine if directly connect...

What frontier modem/gateway are you using?
Did you try a factory reset and reinstall of the router? any time there's an issue after a firmware change, a reasonable first step is to factory reset and do a clean install (not from backup). maybe an old setting is causing the issues.

No gateway, connected directly router.
I have never had to factory reset after a firmware update before... I will try that.

No gateway, connected directly router.---you have a gateway. The R7800 doesn't have a fibre connection. So there's some type of gateway there.
You usually don't need to factory reset after firmware changes but sometimes it is needed if firmware changes enough or an old setting causes issues

Factory reset of the router fixed the issue, as inconvenient as it is. Thanks!- plemansNov 17, 2020Guru - Experienced User
glad that fixed it for you!
