Help! My netgear nighthawk r7000 router is constantly dropping the internet.
I have gigabit internet with the router mentioned in the title. I play games on my pc often while my wife plays on her laptop. I have noticed we routinely drop our internet connection during a few common activities
anytime one person is downloading a large file like a game, while the other person is online too
especially anytime we are both downloading the same game / update, etc
high chance when we play certain games together. This was especially common in battlefield 4 where if she was on first then i join her, she gets kicked off the server and i take over, and if she joined me then I got kicked off. Sometimes it would let us play together, however but not often.
now we are playing vr chat together and we have to do a full power cycle at least once per night cause the router just stops working. The worst was a few days ago when it dropped once every 2 - 3 min for an hour and I kept having to power cycle.
Last night it was just me playing vr chat and I lost connection once and had to power cycle.
I remember looking into port forwarding or similar when I was into BF4 with my wife to help the connection issue, but i dont remember what I changed. I was thinking maybe I should just do a factory reset on my router?
If that doesnt work, then maybe make more changes to the router?
If that doesnt work then maybe replace the router with something new.
Please help!

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended. What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set CTS to 64. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s). Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.
