Intermittent connection issues

My internet connection has been spotty/unstable and I have no idea why.

 

My equipment:

  • C7000 – Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router (Firmware Version V1.01.32) connected via wall jack
  • Spectrum high speed internet (200 mbps)
  • Dell Latitude 3470 laptop hard-wired via Dell docking station/hub D3100
  • Google Pixelbook connected via Wi-Fi
  • Several other devices (cell phones, Fire Sticks, etc., that haven't experienced any issues)

 

My symptoms:

  • Zoom video calls on Pixelbook (Wi-Fi) constantly drop; Zoom displays "connection unstable" notification
  • Chrome browser on Pixelbook (Wi-Fi) intermittently returns "err_address_unreachable" error; pages will typically load within a few seconds/minutes
  • Chrome browser on Dell laptop (hard-wired) returns "err_connection_failed" error every few days; problem resolves itself upon restart. (This problem seems to have begun when corporate IT upgraded my machine to Windows 10 in November)
  • Netgear event log (pasted in full below) shows numerous "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure" errors

 

What I've tried:

  • Numerous power cycles
  • Factory reset C7000
  • Changed DNS servers from default to Cloudflare
  • Changed 5GHz Wi-Fi channel from default (153) to 161 to avoid interference (diagnostics showed several other networks on same channel)
  • Spectrum came out last week to test my connection and inspect wiring and other physical connections, found nothing wrong

 

To be honest I'm totally lost at this point. I don't know if the problem is with my service or with my hardware. If it's my hardware, I don't know if it's faulty equipment or faulty ownership.

 

Please let me know what other information I can share. Thank you in advance for any help!

I have the c7000 v2 and have been expericencing all kinds of drops and what seems like DNS issues.

My event log also looks alot like this and I does lead me to suspect that there is an issue with the hardware. I purchase my unit from Amazon, which i think may have been referbished as it was discounted and came in a basic brown box. 

As a last ditch effort I am making sure that my wireless channels are free, being only devices are on those channels.

 

I may cave though anc just go buy a modem from Motorola or Arris. 

I have never had these issues when using DSL and an Asus router. 

 

It would be great if there was a way diagnose cable connections and the various errors that show on the logs from Netgear.

Thanks for your input, Matt.

 

The fact that I'm having issues on a hard-wired PC and Wi-Fi-connected Chromebook (as well as my Android phone) tells me the issue is either with the Netgear device or the Internet service itself.

 

This weekend I replaced my coax (wall to modem router) and Ethernet cable (cat 5E patch to cat 6, now connected directly from the modem/router to the PC) and my problems persist. The only thing that seems to have helped a little bit is moving my Chromebook from the 5G band to the 2.4G band. I've still had drops, though, so I dunno.
