Well, it fixed itself. I did not do anything. It is now blinking white like it use to. Go figure. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Does your "my netgear router" have a model number? Look at the
product label. Firmware version? Connected to what?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot". Further reading might be helpful,
too.

Re: Internet light on router is flashing orange with no device connected
I have a Netgear AC 1750 R6400 router connected to a CISCO DPQ3212 cable modem. It is running firmware V1.0.1.52_1.0.36 which I just installed about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I have no ethrnet connections on this router. I do have about 10 devices connected to the router via WiFi, not all at once.. I have been running all these devices on this router for about 2 years. The blinking orange light on the internet Led light started after the last firmware upgrade to the router. There is no impact on any device with this blinking light, it is just a very annoying light.
