Logs flooded with access control device allowed
Hello
So I've been randomly checking my logs and the last few days all I see is:
"[access control] device blah with mac blah is allowed on the network" every single minute or less for the same device over and over. It's when I'm usieng my phone mostly and my computer to a lesser extent. It wasn't like that before. I didn't change anything so I don't know if this is just a harmless bug or something is wrong since I don't notice any problems with my internet.
Anyone know about this?

Re: Logs flooded with access control device allowed
It might help if you told people what Netgear device you are using.
You can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:
Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)
They are there for a good reason.

The latest.
Have you turned on Access Control?
Maybe the router is just logging this activity.
Both of these are easily tested by checking their status on the browser graphical user interface (GUI). The manual tells you where to look.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the manual for "Logs" and "Access Control".

yes access control is on and I'm pretty sure I've always had it on and haven't touched any setting in a long time. That's why I'm wondering why it started logging every 40-70 seconds now. It makes it annoying to scroll through to see anything.

You mean scroll through the logs?
Try disabling the things you don't want to see recorded.
Some users find that excessive logging can slow down a router's operation, and their traffic, as the processor does its thing.
That could be especially important with a router as "low power" as the R6120.
According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware. This may not matter to you, especially if you have something like a VDSL service, but be warned that it will hobble you if you ever sign up for faster Internet. It also slows down whatever is going on in your local network. Newer devices support 1000BASE-TX.
