Reading this:
What is an NBN network and is my NETGEAR DSL modem router compatible? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
It suggests that Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) is not DSL. So your D7000 DSL modem/router may be connected to a modem. Guess that is your unnamed NBN box.
If so, you need to get the D7000 into router mode, bypassing the modem bit.
If you visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
you can feed in your model number and find the documentation for your hardware.
Look for the bit that tells you how to connect it to a cable service.
