NOTICE: Live Parental Control Service based on OpenDNS will no longer be supported
Live Parental Control service based on OpenDNS will no longer be supported on NETGEAR devices as of December 31, 2021 due to challenges in maintaining the product and low usage. Effective April 1st, 2021 NETGEAR will remove support for Live Parental Controls from the NETEGAR genie app and from updated versions of their firmware.
Customers can continue to use OpenDNS for content and security filtering by directly setting up an account at https://www.opendns.com/home-internet-security/

Considering LPC was removed from most newer and popular routers while it was still hevaily used - by no longer supporting the Genie App a longer time ago already against massive protests from the customer base (and without an alternate offering for most models!) - with only a bunch of legacy routers still supporting LPC, it's obvious the usage numbers dropped massively. This was intentional and clearly happened under Netgear's decision and intention.

It's not as easy as it appeared here:
For the OpenDNS FamilyShield it's sufficient to configure the two dedicated IP addresses. Doing so, customers re loosing the granular controls, it's a one set that fits all filter.
For the OpenDNS Home (free) with the mandatory registration, to allow the configuration of a single custom profile, plus some optional block pages, it's required to operate the OpenDNS Dynamic IP Updater Client which (used) to run on the Netgear router as long as it was supporting LPC.
With ceasing from the Genie support in general, the ability to bypass the LPC filter with a password was lost, too.
RIP LPC.
The replacement (at least for newer routers again) took until early March 20201 -> NETGEAR Smart Home Parental Controls
