Interesting, I've not heard of or seen a ISP require the user of ISP hardware instead of user owned router hardware. Possible they may required the use of the ISP modem/ONT.

Do you have a link to this statement by the ISP?

What ISP brand and model# modem or ONT are you currently using?

I've seen where the ISP requires one of their routers be used when it comes to some of their specific streaming service because its how the streaming app verifies your home usage. Its how they've prevented password sharing.

Usually though if its required to have, its part of the tv service you're paying for and not another charge.

Could be something new on spectrums part.

You usually can still use your router/extender in conjunction with their router. You just need the netgear in ap mode so their router is primary

I see. Good to know. Always something with some ISPs.

Can use the NG router in router mode if you set it in the host routers DMZ as well. Easier for AP mode though.

Not sure how that'd impact the streaming services verification process to allow you to stream. If the orbi is AP mode, the streaming device ultimately connects back to the host router. Worth a shot but if it doesn't work, the AP mode should.
