Netgear X6 7900 for AP mode
I want to use my old Netgear X6 7900 for AP mode. Simple: New router----ethernet cable----Netgear X6.
As soon as I turn off DHCP and/or turn on AP mode, I get kicked out of router setup and can't log back in.
Information here and on the internet is conflicting and confusing. Is there a procedure that works?
This morning I found the old router had an amber blinking light for the LAN connection. Got my Greenlee RJ-45 tester out and found Pin #1 in the wall jack was pushed out of position.
Fixed it and now I can see the router.
Progress!

What else is on the network? The modem? Another router?

More details:
Comcast> Arris S-33 > TP-Link AXE95 > ethernet cable > Nighthawk X6 R7900 in AP mode
Extender: Netgear EAX20 (works fine)

Once put in AP mode, its reliant on the new router to assign it an IP address.
Log into your new router. check its attached devices page (or equivalent).
It should list the new IP address for the R7900 in ap mode. Use that address to access it.
