Hi,
I just bought a new CM500 modem to replace the Comcast Xfinity modem which was leased. The modem was activated successfully with Comcast and I can connect fine to the Internet when I connect through a wired connection directly to the CM500 modem. However, when I connect my Nighthawk router with the modem through the Internet port, it does not work and the Internet LED light turns orange. I have tried to factory reset the Nighthawk router but the router is not detecting the Internet connection with the modem at all.
Not sure what the problem is here. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I reset the router a few times but nothing worked. Then, I finally changed the Router Mac address settings and set it to "Use Computer MAC Address" in the Internet Setup which resolved the problem.
Thanks to all for their advice and help.

Re: Netgrear CM500 modem with Nighthawk router
What router model?
Firmware on the router?
Did you follow this procedure?
shut off modem and router and disconnect devices from both.
power up the modem with only coax and power connected. leave for several minutes.
connect lan cable from modem to wan port on router
power on router. leave it for a few minutes.
then try setup?

Did you reset the router before introducing it to the modem?
