If you try enabling IPv6 on the router this helps with DNS issues. I have same v.88 loaded on mine. IPv6 enabled and no DNS issues. As others reported as well in this thread.

I have had the same issue with my R7060p Router and it was driving me nuts! I finally downgraded to the old 1.4.2.84 version to fix the problem. This the last Netgear product I am buying. Last year I had a 24 port Netgear die on me that had a 2 year warranty and I had to pay around $25-$30 for them to ship me a replacement. In the past they would just ship the replacement w/no charge when it was under warranty. Their customer service had gone down hill fast.

Can you imaging when your cell phone not working 100% after an auto firmware update? Online product review can make or break a business. I got my R8000P from Costco, and I didn't do my homework. If I did I would not buy Netgear. The clerk told me more than a few people started to returning their routers because they're not working right after firmware update. And then there're people like me looking at forum like this one to find solutions. Most people don't want to deal with problems, they just want plug and play. No one want to reset or mess with the settings to making it work as before firmware upgrade. I hope Netgear PR is looking at online reviews and forum to see what people are saying about their products, if they want to keep their jobs.

Enabling IPv6 did nothing for me. The only thing that worked for me was hard-coding the DNS entries on my computer adapter properties. Set them to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. Not a viable solution for most since you need to do this to every wired and wireless adapter in your network, which is a real pita, but once it's done, no more DNS errors. Fun stuff! and yep, this will be the last time I purchase Netgear!

Try enabing IPv6. It has worked for others. Works on my R7960P.
