Nighthawk R6700 ac1750 router
Hello - My router was installed in 2017. It works great. I have never updated the hardware or software. Is this necessary and how would i do that? Thank you.

Necessary? Not always but it sometimes repairs bugs/security issues.
not sure which version of the r6700 you have (there's 3, you can select the correct one from the drop down box) but here's the support site:

there's firmware on there plus the manual that goes over automatic firmware updates annd manual firmware updates
