Nighthawk R7000 router drops connection to the internet periodically

The router, usuall about once a day, loses connection to the internet. Other devices on the network can see one an other but no internet connection. Power cycling will clear the problem. The cable modem appears to be quite happy; all lights on. There have been a couple of times when power cyling the router didn't clear the problem and usually power cycling the model showed that there was indeed a missing internet connection. When the lights finally all come one things are all functioning normally.

Any idea why the router is losing the internet connection?

1. what actual modem do you have?

2. what firmware is on the router

3. when it happens, does it happen to all devices, just wireless devices, just wired devices? do they say "connected, no internet" or what actual error/issue do you get?

Re: Nighthawk R7000 router drops connection to the internet periodically

The modem says that it is an R7000 Firmware Version V1.0.10.90_10.2.90 (A check indicates that this is the latest version of the firmware for this device).

All connected devices lose internet connectivity. I can't identify a set of circumstances that seem to cause the problem. There doesn't seem to be a particular time of day.Devices on the network side can see one an other; just no connection to the internet. Computers will say no internet connection or cannot connect to the server at ... . Some wireless devices looking for mail will just spin forever.

An R7000 is a router, not a modem.  Are you using a modem with it?

   Try a better check?

After you try a less hopeless firmware version, general advice:

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".  Further reading might not hurt,
either.
