Nighthawk R7900

Nighthawk X6 R7900 Firmware Version V1.0.4.46_10.0.53

1. Login is not https despite clicking on Always Use HTTPS to Access Router under Web Services Management.  How do I fix that?

2. How do I setup a firewall/antivirus so everything wired or wireless through it will be protected without messing up our television viewing or access to most websites?  Currently, we only have protection on our computers and cell phones independently.

Why do you want to fix it?

That seems to be a remote access thing. Enable https there and all hell breaks loose.

What problems do you have? What firewall/antivirus do you want to set up?

Re: Nighthawk R7900

I have never setup a firewall or know anything about doing so with a router. I only know that they usually have one built in. As for the biggest issue, logging into the router it isn't doing https...in the browser bar it shows it crossed out in red.

Re: Nighthawk R7900

Shouldn't https be showing logging into the system from the browser? As in https:192.168.1.1 Or is just username and password good enough? And why would enabling https within the control management cause problems?

Not sure that I understand the question. When I login with the GUI it shows the IP address of the device I logged in from.

I don't know why, I just know that it does. It is lost in the mists of time. People have turned up here with issues that track back to that setting for Local Management.

Maybe it has changed in newer firmware. There certainly seems to have been a reduction in the number of false alerts for DoS Attacks.

As login is usually from the local network, the chances of alien invaders is low. Just use a secure admin password and don't tell the family.

Can you explain what you are trying to achieve?
