Nighthawk Router wont show sg1100

Xfinity modem> nighthawk router, and then im using port1 on the router to connect the sg1100(LAN port on sg1100)

Constantly shows unidentified network, and it wont let me connect to 192.168.1.1 anyway i try it.

the SG1100 is a router/security gateway. 

It should go 

modem---->wan port on SG1100----lan port out------>wan port on netgear router

And your netgear would be in AP (access point) mode. That leaves the SG1100 handling routing and the security features (whole purpose of having one)
