I bought this router secondhand from someone and it appeared to be brand new in the box. I have downloaded the Nighthawk App to get the router set up. I am having issues getting the router to connect...

try installing the latest firmware version 1.0.4.62 over a hard wired connection, then factory reset it and do a clean install (not from backup).
Then try going through the install I recommended prior.

Sorry for the delay, I just had the chance to do this step. I was still unsuccessful after downloading and uploading the new Firmware you shared with me. I am still stuck at the same spot of "no cable detected".
Again, thank you for the recommendations. If you have any others, I am all ears. I am very determined to make this work. I have inspected the port and it does not look like there was any damage.

If the port is bad, there is a wan port mirror option in the debug console. Not 100% if the R8000 has it but worth a shot. It mirrors the wan port to port 1 on the router.
you get to it by going to the ip address/debug.htm
for example 192.168.1.1/debug.htm
