Nighthawk cm1200 very slow and even slower wifi speeds when connected to mesh network.
I just got a new Nighthawk CM1200 to replace the old router i was renting from my ISP. Since installing it I have had terrible speeds... Its hit or miss if a wired device will connect to the internet on it (finally got my TV to, but PS4 still won't connect via LAN connection).
Velop system does work but works at about 1/4 the speed it did with the old modem. (caps at 95mbps when i was getting 300+ before)
contacted ISP and everything is set up as far as they can see.
only change has been trying to use the CM1200.

"installing it" how, exactly? What, exactly, did you connect to
what, exactly? (Hint: If a device has different types of Ethernet
ports, then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)If you replaced some combined modem+router with a simple modem (with
no router), then I'd expect speed to be the least of your problems.Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for
"Connect Your Cable Modem to a Router". Also "LAN ports".My old set up:
-WoW! internet provider. Speed up to 1GB.
-Modem/wifi router: Technicolor CGA4234 (not using the wifi on this)
-Velop Mesh router directly plugged into Technicolor LAN port 1(use this for wifi through the house)
-TV plugged directly into Technicolor LAN port 2
-PS4 plugged directly into Technicolor LAN port 3
Not getting the speeds i should be, but am getting around 250mbps download speed on Velop.
Nighthawk CM1200 Setup:
-WoW! internet provider Speed up to 1GB
-Modem: Nighthawk CM1200
-Router: Velop Mesh plugged directly into CM1200 LAN port 1
-TV plugged directly into LAN port 2 on CM1200
-PS4 plugged directly into LAN port 3 on CM1200
Velop Sometimes gets internet, but wifi has been capped at 95mbps download speed.
TV sometimes get internet but is much slower than when plugged into technicolor.
PS4 won't connect to the internet at all.
My understanding (I'm a novice for those non-psychic people) is that i can directly connect certain things (like the TV and PS4) into the CM1200 modem (via the LAN ports 1-4) without needing a router...and use the Velop mesh system as my wifi hub.

connect _one_ gizmo (typically a NAT router) to the CM1200. (See the
User Manual.) All your client devices connect to the router.> [...] use the Velop mesh system as my wifi hub.
That's your router.
In your old set-up, you had two routers: "Technicolor CGA4234" (a
"gateway" = modem+router) and "Velop Mesh router".> [...] (not using the wifi on this)
Disabling, or simply ignoring, the wireless-network stuff on a
wireless (modem+)router does not stop it from being a (modem+)router.

allowing you to connect your client devices to either router, which
might simplify your wiring, but it causes other problems.Now, with a modem-only (CM1200) and one router ("Velop Mesh router"),
you should avoid the problems caused by cascading multiple routers, but
you can't connect multiple devices to the modem.
