No Internet on AC2300P

Trying to get my new Nighthawk up and running. Going from an older Verizon router to an AC2300. Old router had a coax in from the ONT box. Ran the coax to a Verizon Network Adapter and a cat 6 cable from the adapter to the internet port on the Nighthawk. Everything is lit up like I think it should be save for the Internet LED which is blinking orange instead of white. Is the way I have this set up any good? I have Verizon coming next week to upgrade the service which will include new wires including one solely for internet. Am I out of luck until this upgrade is done or am I missing something?

Re: No Internet on AC2300P

Also FWIW we’ve never had to use a modem before because I’m sure it was a router/modem combo but something makes me think that this could also be an issue.

None of that is a model number.

None of that is a maker or a model number.

Is "R7000P" the actual model number?  Look for "Model" on the product
label.  What about your (unspecified) "an older Verizon router"?

You're certainly consistent.  The non-psychics in your audience might
know very little about your (unspecified) "the ONT box" and your
(unspecified) "a Verizon Network Adapter", too.

> [...] Everything is lit up like I think it should be [...]

It's nice that you're happy, but, as usual, actual facts would be
more helpful than your statement of satisfaction.

> [...] Is the way I have this set up any good? [...]

Ask someone who knows what the pieces of "this" are/were?

I don't know what you might be missing, but I'm missing all kinds of
useful information.

> [...] I'm sure it was a router/modem combo [...]

Once again, you're ahead of me; I know nothing about it.

> [...] something makes me think that this could also be an issue.

If you were using a modem, and now you're not, then that might be
significant.

Re: No Internet on AC2300P

I’m going from a Verizon Fios Quantum Gateway Wireless Wi-Fi Router Fios-G1100 Dual Band to this R7000P NIGHTHAWK AC2300. I only have a coax coming from the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) which according to Verizon acts as a modem of sorts. The Verizon Network Adapter that I was told I would need, linked here (https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-adapter/) has a coax in and four Ethernet ports. Again, I’m not sure if I can have it set up this way but I had everything set up the way I was told to by Verizon and had no internet connection on the router.

The way they had said to run everything was to connect the existing coax to the network adapter. Run a cat 6 from one of the Ethernet ports on the adapter to the internet port on the new router. As I said everything that seemed to me that needed to be lit up was, save for internet which was blinking orange.

My apologies for not providing all the information I needed to but you could have been a bit nicer than that.

Re: No Internet on AC2300P

> [...] G1100 [...]

Ok.  The coaxial WAN port on that gateway is a MoCA port.

      https://www.verizon.com/about/sites/default/files/fios-qgr-userguide140925.pdf

The G1100 is not really what most people would call a modem+router.
Despite its coaxial WAN port, it does not include a cable-TV-type modem.
(Nor does it need one for FIOS service.)

> [...] https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/fios-network-adapter/
> [...]

Also a MoCA adapter, so that much makes sense.

> [...] the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) [...]

Not an improvement over "the ONT box", but, if it has a coaxial port,
then that's probably also a MoCA port.  (If the ONT had an Ethernet
port, then I'd expect that it could be connected directly to the R7000P
WAN/Internet port, without all the MoCA stuff, but you might need to
call Verizon to have them make that change.

Now that it's been identified, that hardware seems to be connected in
a reasonable way.

> [...] As I said everything that seemed to me that needed to be lit up
> was, [...]

And, as I said, it's nice that you're happy, but that still tells me
approximately nothing about which indicators were lit, their colors, or
their activity.

I'd expect to find LED indicators on the MoCA adapter, too, which are
also invisible from here.  Perhaps the ONT, too?

Have you tried anything radical, like, say, glancing at the R7000P
User Manual?  Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual)
model number, and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at
least).  Read.  Look for the LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

If you bought the R7000P new, then it should have tried to use its
set-up "Smart Wizard" to puzzle out the proper configuration to use in
its new environment when it was first powered up there.  If not, then a
settings reset might help.  (Look for "Reset" in the User Manual.)

If the set-up wizard ran into trouble, then it might be waiting for
help from you before proceeding.  In any case, it would be interesting
to see what the management web site on the R7000P has to say about its
situation.

A Web search for terms like, say:
      Verizon FIOS third-party router
might find some useful information on any special router settings which
might be needed in your environment.

Re: No Internet on AC2300P

I’m not the most tech savvy person so I’ll try some of the options you suggested, thank you.

As far as the indicators that make me happy. Here is was lit and colors if this is what you want:

Power LED: Solid White
Internet LED: Blinking Orange
2.4 GHz WiFi LED: Blinking White
5.0 GHz WiFi LED: Blinking White
WiFi On/Off Button: Solid White
WPS Button: Solid White

The Network Adapter does have two LED’s. Solid green for power and blinking green for the coax connection.

The ONT isn’t easily accessible unfortunately.

Now I may not have said this earlier but I do have Verizon coming next week (5/20) to upgrade my service to a higher speed which includes a new ONT.

I will continue to work out the issue with the information you provided. Will update if your solution worked, I hope it does.

That all looks normal, except for the exception.

Info on that gizmo seems sparse, but green apparently is good:

      https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/media/images-accessories/productPDF/9534_Fios_Network_Adapt...

If you disconnect the Ethernet cable and the "coax light" changes to
solid green, then I'd infer that "flashing" means activity, and it's
happy.

I'd still connect a computer to the R7000P, and point a wab browser
at its management web site.

> [...] Verizon coming next week [...]

Perhaps they'll bring some actual experience and/or expertise.

Any news, bad or good, could be interesting.
