Not getting 1 gig
I have Xfinity and i pay for 1 gig speed, both my modem and router are both rated for 1 gig but then i do a speed test on a wired desktop thats rated for 2 gig i only get about 600 mbps, any thoughts ...

The thing is im getting 600 mbps max on a wired desktop. Im not concerned with what im getting wireless. Im concerned with only getting 600 mbps on a wired desktop.

1. the cm700 isn't rated to gigabit speeds on xfinity.
2. hardwire your pc/laptop into the mode and test those speeds to see what you get. That'll tell you the max speed you might be able to get out of the router. Its pointless to troubleshoot the router if xfinity is only provisioning you for 600mbps .

As plemans meations, if the ISP doesn't support the CM700 on a 1Gb line, then you'll not see anything near 900Mpbs on wired either nor thru the R8000 router.
I believe at one point the ISP may have supported it on 1Gb however in early days. I had CBK40 that has a CM700 modem built in. Was working back then on 1Gb with my ISP. However since DOCSIS 3.1 came out, I believe ISPs only support 1GB speeds on 3.1 modems now days. So if you really want 1Gb from the ISP, get you a CM1000/1100 or 1200 modem. Then you'll see near 900Mpbs on the R8000. I do on mine.
