R 8300 Firmware update

I tried many times to update firmware, it always failed. I need help. I have tried some fix’s on forum, to no avail

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What browser are you using? 

Wired or wireless when updateing FW? 

Be sure your unpacking .zip files if you manually download the files from NG download site.

Where is it failing in the process?

There was no answer the last time someone asked @molson2 those questions:

Will not update. Never has updated. V1. 0 2.86_1.0... - NETGEAR Communities

Maybe they were, quite understandably, put off by the response they received there.
