R6350 bricked after update

A few days ago I tried updating to R6350_V1.1.0.78_1.0.1 with the nighthawk app. (Yes, I found out that updating through the app is not a good idea) Now the router boots up and the power and usb lights alternate with no internet.
I have tried to do a hard factory reset already with no success.
Next, I went through the steps to attempt tftp (https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP) but I haven't got it to work yet.
------------------
When I ping the router I get something like this:
C:\Users\Family>ping 192.168.1.1
Pinging 192.168.1.1 with 32 bytes of data
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination host unreachable.
Request timed out.
Reply from 192.168.1.10: Destination host unreachable.
Then when i try tftp i just get:
C:\Users\Family\Desktop>tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put R6350_V1.1.0.78_1.0.1.img
Connect request failed
------------------
Should I keep trying tftp or is it toast?
I have also seen an article talking about opening the router to fix it. I am willing to try this if it is the only option left.

TFTP is sensitive to timing. try it a few times. Also, try watching an instructional video. it can help.
If it doesnt work, you can try nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9DLrLQrpaw
and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash
https://github.com/jclehner/nmrpflash
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity
