R6900P ROUTER: I keep getting firmware upgrade notices, but then Nighthawk app says there are none.

For the second or third time in the past coiuple of years, I received an email purportedly from Netgear telling me there was a "security" firmware update for my router.  When I went to the Nighthawk app on my tablet, however, I was told there were no updates.  Was this a "phisihing" email, or don't I need the update - or does the Nighthawk app have a problem?
