Good news! We now have a production version of firmware that should resolve the 2.4 GHz issue, v1.0.5.64. You may download this firmware from our R7000 page here: http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/R7000#searchResults
As IrvSp correctly notes, this version of firmware fixes the 2.4 GHz issue and reinstates the new features, such as Kwilt, Smart Connect, and WiFI Transmit Power Control. It does not support Arlo. We hope to have a beta version that supports Arlo in the next two weeks.
We welcome any feedback you provide on this new firmware, and appreciate your patience as we resolved these issues. Thank you all for supporting the R7000 and NETGEAR!

I don't think you will be able to do it directly, as there is not yet a new version to correct the 1.0.6.28 problems. You will have downgrade by going to downloadcenter.netgear.com and search for the available downloads by router model. 1.0.4.28 and 1.0.4.30 appear to be the latest stable versions. This will get you a .zip file which you can unpack in Windows simply by double clicking on it, and extracting the .chk file to a known disk location.
Then you login to your router and through the advanced menu, you will be able to change the FW by browsing to the location on your PC you saved the .chk file to.

Thanks for keeping me posted on the issue I was having with my Netgear R7000 router after updating to the new firmware. I am glad to hear that Netgear is working on it and will have a fix in a couple weeks. I backward upgraded my firmware to V1.0.48 and everything is working fine now. I do understand that comapnies need to keep up to support more people using the latest devices and need to provide firmware to support these. However, I am disappointed that when I called them with my 5 month old (stil under warranty) router that they wanted to charge me additinal money to receive phone support to resolve my issue. I feel that they need to step up when they released a firmware updae that was faulty and provide me the phone support I was asking for. I want to thank everyone on this community forum to help me solve my problem. I am going to hold off on any new firmware releases until Netgear says it has been fixed and I am also hearing the same from everyone on this forum.
Thanks again for your help.
