Hi,
In my router log, every couple of minutes it says it is 'connected to the Internet, as follows:

The router is brand new as of three days ago.
It crashes about once per day and has to be power cycled to resume normal operation.
I am in Australia and on an unlimited Optus NBN broadband internet with download speeds in excess of 100mb/s.
I have a maximum of about 35 devices on my network (wired and wifi with both 2.4 and 5ghz bands active) and I have allocated priorities to the devices which require faster data, such as streaming devices and my kids' gaming computers.
I have tried resetting my NBN Modem and changing ethernet cables from the modem to the router WAN port.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Regards,
Graeme.

R7000 had a major crash and reset itself back to factory settings a couple of nights ago. I set it up again from scratch and since no problems. Still has latest firmware installed. I replaced an old ethernet switch with a new gigabit one in case that was causing the issue. So far so good. I'll report back, hopefully with no more crashes.

Re: R7000 Smart Router Continually Connects to Internet and then Crashes
To be clear, I am trying to stop the router crashing every day, require a hard restart.
I thought the continual connecting to the internet may be a fault/clue.
My kids are driving me wild, complaining that the internet keeps going down each day.
Thanks for your help.

What firmware are you on?
the R7000 has been a problem child for firmware. Many have stuck with the 1.0.9.42 version as its been the most stable for the most devices.
I'd try installing that version, factory resetting the router, and then setting it back up. I'd also disable the auto-update function if it works.
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80

Re: R7000 Smart Router Continually Connects to Internet and then Crashes
thats not the latest.
So I'd try it in this order and process.
1. try downloading the latest firmware. manually install it, reset the router back to factory and then install it. Don't use a backup.
if that doesn't help then:
2. install the 1.0.9.42 version. again, factory reset and install it not from backup.

Hi Plemans,
I rolled back to 1.0.9.42 as you suggested.
Things seems to be going well.
Will report back after a day or two, to tell you if I have had no crashes.
Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your help.

Re: R7000 Smart Router Continually Connects to Internet and then Crashes
No problems or crashes so far. I did find a faulty ethernet cable in my setup which was slowing speeds down.
I have now done a factory reset and upgraded to the latest firmware (V1.0.11.110) as you suggested to see how that goes.
Thanks

Re: R7000 Smart Router Continually Connects to Internet and then Crashes
No crashes since the 16th, router is running well, kids and wife off my back; looks like this problem is solved.
Curious, though why Netgear's router setup wizard would install a buggy, older version of firmware as the very first thing it does.
It doesn't give the user much confidence in the product, especially novice users.
Anyhow, thanks very much plemans for all your advice.

Re: R7000 Smart Router Continually Connects to Internet and then Crashes
Glad to hear its working!
the sad part is that most people don't have any issues with it.
the few who do have issues, end up on the forums. So it makes it seem like everyone has problems.
