R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update

Dear all,
Last night I updated my firmware to Firmware Version V1.0.5.48_1.1.79. Unfortunately now the router is unable to update it's date and time. It stays on 01 Jan 2015.
I've reset the time zone, tried to change it to other time zone and then restore it back to mine, but unfortunately no effect. Tried to reset to router several times - no effect.
It's like this since last night.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Nick

I tried all the options given on different forums but no luck. Netgear support gave me beta V1.0.5.49_20151208_timesync firmware which fixed the issue.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Did you factory reset the router after the firmware update? If not then note down all non-default settings, maybe take screengrabs, then factory reset and re-enter settings manually.
If the problem persists then take a look at the router log shortly after powering up the router.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Dear Babylon5,
Thank you for your response. I did factory reset, but unfortunately that didn't help either.
Please see below my router log after the factory reset:
[Admin login] from source XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:01:06
[Dynamic DNS] host name xxxxxx.ddns.net registration successful, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:39
[DHCP IP: (XX.XX.XX.XX)] to MAC address XX:XX:XX:XX:XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:35
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:27
[Internet disconnected] Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:26
[OPENVPN] NTP sync time failed. Get correct system time then reconnect. Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:17
[Initialized, firmware version: V1.0.5.48v1.7] Thursday, Jan 01,2015 00:00:17
I hope this will give you some clue on my issue.

Nick

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
That’s interesting, there could be a few reasons why the NTP request might fail, but the log doesn’t give many clues as to why it failed in this case.
I will contact Netgear support to see if they are aware of this kind of problem.
It might be interesting if you were to revert to the last firmware version you used, if this syncs to the correct date/time then that would indicate that the NTP server is good.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hi Babylon5,
Thanks for your reply. I'll appreciate if you share the Netgear respone when you get it.
Other than that I have two R7000 routers. One with old firmware and one with the new firmware. Look what I found this morning in my system logs:
New Firmware V1.0.5.48_1.1.79:
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 05:00:28
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 04:00:28
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 03:00:28
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 02:00:28
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Thursday, Jan 01,2015 01:00:28
Old Firmware V1.0.4.14_1.1.50:
Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 04:44:07
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 04:44:06
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 03:44:07
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 03:44:07
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 02:44:07
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 02:44:06
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 01:44:07
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 01:44:06
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 00:44:06
[Internet connected] IP address: XX.XX.XX.XX, Wednesday, Dec 23,2015 00:44:06
As you can see the old firmware is syncing it's date/time every hour, where the new firmware is connecting to internet every hour, but not syncing.
Regards,
Nick

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
My R7000 has been showing the wrong time and date for a while now, despite me trying to get it to update from the Advanced —> Schedule screen many times. Currently, since the firmware update, which I did some days ago, it's at least showing this year, which is an improvement on what it was showing previously!
I'm in the UK and the actual time is 22.10.03
Current Time: Thursday, 08 Jan 2015 04:54:53
Firmware Version
V1.0.5.48_1.1.79

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hello guys! I decided to keep my router running FW version R7000-V1.0.3.80-1.1.38. I tried to run many other versions, but always with some sort of issues. The last FW update has a lot of features that I would like to use them, but when I downloaded that the router started to drop frequently a camera connection which is used for security purposes, so that I decided not to keep R7000-V1.0.6.28-1.1.83 version running. Even though I think the new version has security improvements, I'm going to pass. I've also noticed that the date and time is a cronic problem on this router specifically. There are lots of posts talking about it since the router has been released, nonetheless I'm anxious to update my router, but with a FW that really works.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hi JamesGL,
Happy New Year.
Before making the update I did factory reset of the settings. After the firmware update I did factory reset of the settings again. Afterwards I enetered all settings manually. After that hard reset of the router for couple of minutes. Time zone updated too.
Problem is still there. Very strange. Even with the latest firmware (v. 1.0.6.28).

Nikolay

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hey JamesGL,
I've performed a complete reset, but it didn't work. I'm gonna continue checking it to see wether it will work. It seems that the wireless issue with my camera has gone, but I'm not sure yet. The time and date are still wrong BTW.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hey JameGL!
The communication issue with my security camera has come back. I'm gonna rollback to R7000-V1.0.3.80_1.1.38 FW version which is stable and it has time and date working perfectly.
Best regards,

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Same exact thing is happening to me! After the firmware upgrade it wouldn't update the time and would only reset to 01 Jan, 2015. No matter what I try I can't get the time to update accurately. Even tried doing a full factory reset on both my modem and the R7000 to no avail. I've also tried everything I could find in this thread and others on the site with no luck. I tried oseiasslompo's idea of reverting back to V1.0.3.80_1.1.38 and that seems to have fixed it for now. Guess I'll wait until netgear releases another firmware update to try again.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Hello Madmoggies!
The support solved it, but they didn't mention that here. They had been providing private support until it be solved under their private support program. They gave me a solution, but due to the contract I signed I can't spread it here. My appologies. If you have any problems with your router I encourage you to call them for support. They were very kind trying to help me.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
It was a BETA TEST, so it could work correctly or not. Fortunately it worked. They possibly included fixes to the last FW version.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Well that wasn't any good sending in a ticket as I'm well out of the 90 days free support. They say about getting a hardware check done by them but I doubt that would help as several of us have the same problem after updating the firmware. They suggest I get Gearhead Premium Services but that would cost an arm and a leg in call charges from the UK, so I guess I'll just have to wait till the next firmware update.

Re: R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Let's see whether I can help you with your router. When I was trying to solve the problem which was happening to my router I tried many old version until find a version which would fix Date/Time issues. If you don't want the most updated router's functionalities you likely can fix it uploading the FW version R7000-V1.0.3.80-1.1.38. Please try to do that and then tell me what happened. I would do better if my English was better. It's been a pleasure try to help you.
