R7000 dropping 5Ghz randomly
I was transitioned to work from home so I was able to finally notice this, but my 5Ghz connection on my router occasionally drops. During the course of my 9-10 hour shift, the connection drops around...

the general agreed upon decent firmware for the R7000 is 1.0.9.42.
the recently released version is still waiting feedback but the initial results aren't any better from what I've seen.
What modem is it from xfinity?
Try installing that firmware, factory reset again, and make sure to manually install.

I dont know how i feel about linksys. The last one i owned was a e2500. Either their routers are that good that doesnt need frequent firmware updates or their support is just so bad they can only push out a fw every blue moon. Some of them they literally just stopped supporting.
My suggestion was for a relatively inexpensive replacement for the $160 R7000. For $150 you get a normally $250 router that is better categorically in all speed and coverage areas, with zero drops and great reviews. Can't speak for firmware upgrades but if it's better out of the box and rock stable, I really don't care for frequent updates (lord knows they did nothing good with the r7000) so long as they fix major security loopholes.

Installed my old R7000 as a wired AP today with FW V1.0.11.106_10.2.100. Noticed a few speed drops (down from 800M-1000Mbps to 7 Mbps) which lasted for maybe a minute or two. Is this what people called "drops"? Since I have the AP only to extend range so I don't have any device connected to the 2.4G band. Thoughts?
